Terms of Service

Last updated: 8 August 2026

Welcome to Didote. These Terms are an agreement between you and the Didote team ("Didote," "we," "us") covering your use of the Didote website and application (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Service changes and availability

Didote is actively developed and changes often. This means:

  • The Service is provided as-is and may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete features.
  • Features, limits, and pricing may change, be added, or be removed at any time.
  • We may modify or discontinue all or part of the Service.
  • You should keep your own backups of anything important and not treat Didote as your sole system of record.

2. Who can use Didote

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement. You're responsible for your account, your login details, and everything done through your account.

3. What Didote does

Didote is a workspace for independent freelancers. It helps you draft proposals, agreements, client communications, and invoices, and includes tools such as a focus timer, rate guidance, deliverables/tasks, and (in the Mac app) local file organization. Available features depend on your plan.

4. AI features — please read

Many Didote features use AI to generate drafts and starting points — not finished, verified, or professional work. You are responsible for reviewing and editing anything the AI produces before you use it.

  • Agreements are not legal advice. AI-generated agreements are drafts to help you begin. They are not legal advice and are not a substitute for a lawyer. Have a qualified lawyer review any agreement before you rely on it.
  • Rate guidance is not financial advice. Rate suggestions are informational estimates only.
  • AI can be wrong. Output may be inaccurate or unsuitable. Don't rely on it as your only basis for decisions with legal, financial, or professional consequences.
  • AI is powered by third parties. Text features use Anthropic (Claude) and image features use Runware. Content you submit to these features is sent to those providers to generate your result. See our Privacy Notice.

5. Your content

You own the content you create, upload, or store with Didote ("Your Content"). You give us permission to process Your Content only to run the Service for you — including sending it to our AI providers when you use an AI feature. You're responsible for Your Content and for having the right to use it.

If you enter information about your clients or others, you confirm you're allowed to do so and to have it processed by the Service and its AI providers.

As between you and us, you own the outputs you generate. Note that AI outputs may not be unique — similar results may be produced for other users.

6. Plans, credits, and payments

Didote offers Free and paid plans. AI features use credits; allowances and reset behavior are shown on the pricing page and in the app. Plans, credits, and prices may change — we'll try to give reasonable notice of meaningful changes. If you're on a paid plan, you can cancel any time and keep paid features until the end of your current billing period, then move to Free.

Changing plans. Moving up a plan takes effect immediately. You are charged only for the credits you do not already hold — your current balance is counted at the new plan's per-credit rate and deducted from the price — your balance is then topped up to the new plan's full allowance, and your billing month restarts from that day. Moving down a plan, or to Free, takes effect at the end of your current billing period: nothing is charged at the time, and you keep your current plan and its credits until that period ends. The exact amount is shown to you before any charge is taken.

About credits. Credits are a usage allowance for AI features — they are not currency, not stored value, and not a deposit. They have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for money, and cannot be transferred, sold, gifted, or combined between accounts. Credits are granted for a billing period and do not carry over: on each renewal your balance is replaced by that plan's allowance, and anything unused at that point is gone. Credits belong to the plan you bought them with: when a paid plan ends — because you cancelled, because payment stopped, or because the account was closed — any credits remaining end with it. You keep them for every day of the period you paid for, and not beyond it. The Free plan's credits are a one-time grant issued when you first sign up; they are not issued again if you return to Free later.

Paid plans are charged in advance and processed by a third-party payment provider acting as the merchant of record for those payments — that provider's name, not Didote's, appears on your statement, and its own buyer terms apply to the transaction alongside these. We will name the provider here once checkout is live. Prices are quoted in US dollars and exclude VAT or sales tax, which is added at checkout where your country requires it. Paid features unlock as soon as payment completes.

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. In short: email us within 14 days of a charge and we will refund it, credits already spent are not refundable, and our payment provider may separately issue a refund at its own discretion. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law.

7. Acceptable use

Don't use Didote to: break the law; infringe anyone's rights (including intellectual property); upload malware; try to break security or access other accounts; scrape, overload, or abuse the Service or its AI providers; generate unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or infringing content; or resell the Service without permission. We can suspend or remove accounts that do. (See the full Acceptable Use Policy below.)

8. Local files (Mac app)

The Mac app stores project files locally on your device, in a folder you choose. Those files stay under your control and are your responsibility, including backups. We don't host them and aren't responsible for local files — for example, loss from device failure, deletion, or your own actions. (Note: content you actively submit to an AI feature is transmitted for processing, as described in the Privacy Notice.)

9. Third-party services

Didote may connect to third-party services such as Google sign-in, our payment provider, and our AI providers. Your use of those is subject to their terms, and we're not responsible for them.

10. Availability

We want Didote to work well, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data won't be lost. We may change or pause features.

11. Ending use

You can stop using Didote and delete your account any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, create legal or security risk, or for extended inactivity. Sections that should reasonably survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits) will survive.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent allowed by law. We don't warrant that the Service or any AI output is accurate, reliable, secure, or fit for your purposes. You use Didote at your own risk.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the claim, or, if you're on a free plan, is limited to a nominal amount permitted by law. (Some places don't allow certain limitations; where that's the case, these limits apply only as far as the law allows.)

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Didote evolves. We'll post the new version with an updated date and, for meaningful changes, try to give reasonable notice. Continuing to use Didote after changes take effect means you accept them.

15. Governing terms and contact

These Terms are between you and Didote, the trading name under which the Service is operated by a sole trader. Didote is not yet incorporated as a company; once it is, these Terms will be updated to name the operating entity and its governing law. Questions about these Terms go to support@didote.com.
