Copyright & DMCA Policy

Last updated: 2 October 2026

People can upload images and files to Didote and share some of their work — proposals and decks — by link. If you believe something on Didote infringes your copyright, tell us and we'll act on it. We follow the notice-and-takedown process of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).

1. Reporting infringement

Send a written notice to our copyright agent (contact details in section 5) that includes:

  • your physical or electronic signature, or that of a person authorised to act for the copyright owner;
  • the copyrighted work you say has been infringed;
  • the material you say is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it — for a shared proposal or deck, its link (it starts didote.com/p/);
  • your name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  • a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.

A notice missing these may not be acted on. Knowingly misrepresenting that material infringes can make you liable for damages (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)).

2. What we do

When we receive a complete notice, we remove the material or disable access to it promptly — usually by turning off the share link and deleting the file — and tell the account holder, with a copy of the notice.

3. If your material was removed

If you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, send our copyright agent a counter-notice that includes:

  • your physical or electronic signature;
  • the material that was removed and where it appeared before;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith it was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification; and
  • your name, postal address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the US federal district court for your address (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Didote may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice, or their agent.

We send the counter-notice to the person who complained. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action to stop the use, we may restore the material 10 to 14 business days after we received your counter-notice.

4. Repeat infringers

We end, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright.
